The CTVFC dive team was formed in July of 1989 and has operated continuously ever since. The team was formed after an incident earlier that year when a mother and her two infant children perished when their vehicle somehow entered the Susquehanna River. At that time there was no organized team to deal with such incidents and the members of CTVFC vowed to find a way to assist. Since the formation of the team, they have responded to many emergencies and calls for help.

Those responses include such things as rescuing people stranded in flood waters, searching waterways for weapons used in a crime at the request of the Pennsylvania State Police, finding a leak in a pipeline under the river for a petroleum company and many others. The team provides a valuable and needed service to the Susquehanna River Valley and anywhere in the state that requests the assistance of the team. The dive team performs tasks such as retrieving lost equipment from waterways, recovering drowning victims, and even cleaning debris from drainage pipes in standing bodies of water. The dive team relishes any opportunity to assist the public or other organizations when requested.
